Suricato Riverboards meets Eisbach: A first try
Hey guys
since I was honoured to be the FIRST to try the brandnew Suricato Riverboard Shape in its special-edition “Monaco” with the bavarian flag in the Eisbach Wave here in Munich, I want to share some of my impressions with you guys. Upfront it was an exciting trip…

Some infos on the riverboard “Monaco”: 5’11”, 20”, 2” 1/2. The Suricato “Monaco” is a standard PU board and comes with surprisingly a lot: neon blue FCS honeycomb eye-catcher fins, a twistable leash, a board sock and a board bag. Cool stuff..

Week day. 11am. Sun is shining, everbody at work. Only 3-4 other surfers at the Eisbach. Perfect conditions to test my new Schatzerl!
First I stopped by at the local surfshop to buy a surf pad and a driftwood middlefin. The board instantly attracted attention from the guys in the surfshop and so they asked: “What is this? cool design! is this Epoxy?” No its not, standard PU. “Really?” is the answer. “It feels so stable and robust”. Well this question gonna be answered later on..

So here I go, I jump into the wave and the touch of the board is great..easy (relatively for my middle experience level) turns, good balance and smoothness. Stocked from the first turns and from the surprised reactions from the other local surfers, this goes on for maybe two hours! back out of the water I see…well, the board had some intimate contact with the Eisbach side walls..

Slightly impressed nose and on the rails some of the glass fiber below the bavarian blue surface is visible.

So what! this is the Eisbach….and this is not the standard sand-finished kinda board. Some Solarez and transparent tape sessions later, my Suricato is ready for the Eisbach again and I am looking forward to the next session..
Cheers
Me
